ANNOUNCEMENT OF CHIEF MINISTER’S FREE SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME, 2008-09

Applications are invited form eligible candidates who have secured admission to any of the TOP 20 UNIVERSITIES/INSTITUTES OF THE WORLD. The eligibility criteria are as follows:-

  1. Only one candidate shall be eligible for the current financial year 2008-09
  2. Candidate must have obtained admission purely on merit basis. The candidate must produce an authentic certificate from the University/ institute certifying that admission has been obtained on merit after competitive entrance test.
  3. The candidate must be a Sikkim Subject/ Domicile. C.O. I. holder.

 

Other details are:-

  1. The applications shall be screened by an appointed committee.
  2. The Scholarship covers full course fees, hostel charges levied by the institute to be certified by the Hostel Warden, books & stationary as prescribed by the institute and student travel allowance once a year from the institute to the home country and back. No other charges like visa, medical and other personal expenses shall be covered under the scheme.
  3. The ranking of the institute/ university shall be authenticated by the HRDD, Govt. of Sikkim.
  4. In case of multiple applications, income ceiling prescribed by the Government as in the eligibility criteria a Comprehensive Educational Loan Scheme announced under Sikkim Government Gazette Notification No. 129/GOD/DOP/CB dated 16.10.2008, the rank in the entrance exam, consistent academic performance etc. shall be taken into consideration.
  5. Selection is subject to final approval of the Government and shall be binding on all.

Applications may be submitted to the office of Managing Director, SIDICO, Bhanupath Road, Gangtok on any working day. Last date for receiving applications ins 31st March, 2009.

Balika Sumadhi Yojana

Particulars- Grant of Rs.500/- (Not in Monthly Basis).

Eligibility- BPL/VP

Neccessity: Income Certificate,Certificate of Identification,Pass port photo of parents (husband/Wife),Panchayat Recommendation.

National Old Age Pension Scheme

Particulars- The government gives pension precisely to take care of rural poor above 65 yrs of age.

Eligibility- rural poor more than 65 yrs who has no regular source of income or financial support from family members.

Funds- Government of India gives pension but in some States, they add more money to this and raise the amount of pension.

National Family Benefits Scheme

Particulars- to provide financial security to the bereaved families.

Eligibility- A lump sum amount is given to a surviving member of the household of the deceased.

Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana

Particulars- Dedicated solely for the construction of rural roads.

Eligibility- Villagers which have not been able to keep pace on the path of progress.

Funds- funds are met fully by the government of India.

 

Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana

Particulars- aims to enable the villager community to strengthen the villager infrastructure through creation of durable assets as per the local needs.

Eligibility- whole village community. Preference given to SC/ST families living below poverty line and to physically handicapped persons.

Funds- Govt. of India release funds to the DRDAs/ZPs, who in turn releases the funds directly to the Gram Panchayat.

 

Annapurna Scheme

Particulars- Food grains are given to persons below the poverty line in order to provide them food security.

Eligibility- persons below the poverty line and who are aged more than 65 yrs.

 

Employment Assurance Scheme

Particulars- to provide employment to persons below the poverty line, during the period of acute shortage of wage employment.

Eligibility- SC/ST and parents of child labour withdrawn from hazardous occupations that are below the poverty line.

 

Prime Minister Gramodaya Yojna

Particulars- primary education primary health, rural shelter drinking water, nutrition and rural electrification.

Eligibility- to achieve the objective of sustainable human development at the village level.

 

Swarnjayanti Gram Swarojgar Yojna

Particulars- provides assistance to acquire income generating through Bank Credit and government subsidy. Deals with organization of the rural poor into Self-Help Groups and their capacity building skill development, training and technology and marketing support.

Eligibility- the families below the poverty line (BPL) in rural areas constitute the target group of this Yojna.
