1)Pre-matric and post matric scholarship

Particulars- to improve literacy level of both ST/SC and OBC populations, the department has been granting scholarship to the students according to the guidelines of Government of India. The prevailing rates of the scholarship are:

i) Pre-LKG to Class IV Rs. 360/- per student per academic year
ii) Class V to VIII Rs. 480/- per student per academic year.
iii) Class IX & X Rs. 850/- per student per academic year
iv) Class XI & XII Rs.1250/- per student per academic year
v) Graduation degree within the State Rs.1850/- per student per academic year
vi) Graduation degree outside the State Rs.2500/- per student per academic year
vii) Engineering and Medical degree Rs. 3400 Graduation degree within the State Rs.1850/- per student per academic year

Eligibility- ST/SC students below the poverty line.

2)Scholarship to Monastic Students

Particulars- scholarships are also provided to students studying in Monastic schools spread over whole of Sikkim at the rate of Rs. 250/- per year.

Eligibility- Tribal students who studies in Monastic schools are provided the scholarship.

3)Balika Samridhi Yojana

Particulars- To change the family and community's negative attitudes towards the girl child at birth and towards her mother.
To improve enrolment and retension of girl children in schools.
To raise the age of marriage of girls.
To assist the girl to undertake income generating activities.

Eligibility- Provides financial assistance to the families living below poverty line to whom girl child is born. Benefits under this scheme will be restricted to two girl children in each house hold born on or after 15/08/1997 irrespective of the total number of children in the house hold.

4)Indira Mahila Yojana

Particulars-To encourage to group themselves according to socio-economic status.
To have a role in formation of the level plan reflecting women's priorities.

Eligibility- the women from rural and urban slums who are below the poverty line are encouraged for their economic empowerment. The Government has implemented this scheme in South District where 110 Indira Mahila Kendras are functional and was given Rs.5000 each as one time grant to start income generating activities like pickle making, goatery, piggery, ginger cultivation, basket making, poultry, vegetable growing etc for which an investment of Rs. 2.48 lakhs has been made by the said 110 SHGs and have deposited an amount of Rs. 3.44 lakhs in State Bank of Sikkim.

5)Widow remarriage scheme

Particulars- Under this scheme the eligible person marrying a widow is granted a cash incentives of Rs. 10,000/-. The following documents are required to be submitted:
i) Sikkim Subject/ Certificate of Identification of both husband and wife.
ii) Marriage Certificate issued by the District Collector/Marriage Officer.
iii) Clearance from in-laws.
iv) Undertaking by the husband to take care/responsibility of the children of the wife from her first husband.

6)Pension of widow of ex-servicemen
An amount of Rs. 84,000/- is annually transferred to Rajya Sainik Board for disbursement to the widows of ex-servicemen.

7)Working Women's Hostel

Particulars- To provide safe and economical accommodation to working women, there are two Working Women's Hostels at Gangtok and Namchi.

8)Kishori Shakti Yojana

Particulars- To improve the nutritional and health status of girl in the age group of 11-18 yrs.
To provide required literacy and necessary skill through the non-formal stream of education.
To train and equip the adolescents girls to improve home based and vocational skills.
To promote awareness of health, hygiene, nutrition &family welfare.

Eligibility- girls in the age group of 11-18 years are eligible because this stage is intermediary between childhood and womanhood and is the most eventful for mental, emotional and psychological well-being.

9)Integrated child development service scheme-

Particulars- under this scheme the following package of services are provided:
i) Supplementary feeding
ii) Immunization
iii) Health Check-up
iv) Referral Services
v) Nutrition & Health Education
vi) Pre-school Education
Eligibility- the most prominent scheme, which relates to children and is implemented by the Department.
