Ans: The disbursement of the fund is made to render relief work relating to the damages caused by the September 18th, 2011 earthquake. For utilization of this fund by any Government Department for earthquake related work, the concerned HoD has to certify that no fund from any other source has been availed of for the same purpose. Ans: Any person or family that has been affected by natural calamities like earthquake, landslides etc will be eligible to receive funds. Fund can also be utilised for other humanitarian causes like medical treatment, treatment of accident victims, for deaths relief etc. It can also be utilised to provide immediate relief in case of any major mishap. However, the discretion to grant fund is entirely vested with the Chief Minister. Q7. How is the account of Chief Minister’s Relief Fund maintained? Ans: The account of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund is maintained by the Home Department (Accounts Section). One Chartered Accountant is appointed on a yearly basis to audit the accounts. Q8. How is the surplus funds of the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund utilised? Ans: Generally, the funds are disbursed immediately or they are committed for specific purposes.
