Destination Management Committee Meets to Strategize Tourism Development in Gyalshing

Gyalshing, April 30 (IPR): Today, a pivotal meeting of the Destination Management Committee convened under the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 initiative was held at the conference hall of the District Administrative Centre, Rabdentse. Mr M Bharani Kumaar, IAS, District Collector and Chairman of the Committee chaired the meeting. The session brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on crucial strategies and initiatives to advance the region's tourism development.
In attendance were Mr. J. Jayapandian, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Gyalshing, Ms. Tirsang Tamang, SDM (HQ), Mr. Surat Gurung, ADC/Dev, Mr. Ashok Chettri, SE (Building & Housing), Mr. Milan Kr. Subba, ACF (T), Mr. Santosh Singh AE (Roads & Bridges), Mr. Dinesh Pradhan, AD (Education ), Mr. Dorjee T. Bhutia, AD (Tourism), Mr. Pradeep Limboo, AE (PHE), Mr. Nawang G. Bhutia, Administrator (Ecclesiastical), Mr. Dhiraj Jairu, Inspector (DIC, Jorthang), Mr. Naveen Pahal and Mrs. Gaurika Grover, Project Coordinator (Swadesh Darshan 2.0) and others.
Discussions during the meeting were centred on augmenting tourism infrastructure, advocating for sustainable tourism practices, and fostering skill development initiatives to bolster the tourism sector's resilience and growth. Mr M Bharani Kumaar, DC instructed all concerned officers to prioritize pending issues related to clearance and NOC, emphasizing the importance of timely resolution and effective management of designated areas.
The meeting also highlighted upcoming initiatives, including a launch of an open photo and video contest themed around culture, heritage, and nature and an announcement of Logo and Tagline competition winners, scheduled for May 7 at EOC, Rabdentse. Additionally, plans were discussed for a walking guide tour from TIC Pelling to Bird Park, Rabdentse, covering a distance of 3 km, aimed at promoting awareness and active participation. Furthermore, a Swachhta drive is slated for May 10 with active involvement from the tourism stream and ECO clubs of schools.
