Sikkim Government Nurses Welfare Association organises Blood donation drive for International Nurses Week

Gangtok, May 7 (IPR): Sikkim Government Nurses Welfare Association is celebrating the ‘Nurses Week,’ an annual celebration recognising the exceptional contributions of nurses globally, commencing from 5th May 2024 to 11th May 2024 at the premises of STNM Hospital, Gangtok. Day 3 of the nurses week was celebrated by the Sikkim Government Nurses Welfare Association with a blood donation drive today at STNM Hospital in Sokeythang, highlighting the theme ‘Our Nurses, Our future: the economic power of Care.’
Blood donors included individuals from Department of Commerce & Industry, Assistant Nursing Superintendents of each department of STNM,Staff nurses, Technicians of STNM and various other interested volunteers.
Additionally on Day 2, a herbal plantation drive was organised around the premises of STNM Hospital at Sokeythang with individuals from the nursing fraternity of STNM & Urban PHC,Healthcare professionals, nursing students and officials from the Dept of Health and Family welfare taking part in the plantation drive.
This year, International Nurses Week is themed as “Our Nurses, Our Future, the Economic Power of Care," highlighting the significant role of nurses in healthcare and expressing gratitude for their dedicated service throughout the year.
The week long celebration will culminate with the Nurses Day celebration on the 11th May 2024.
Additionally, the Association will also be adapting Pediatrics ward I and II by painting the walls for visual appeal.
