General Observer for 10-Poklok Kamrang visited polling stations

Namchi, 15th October (IPR): Mr. Alak Kumar Saharia, General Observer for Bye Elections for 10 Poklok Kamrang Assembly Constituency visited various polling stations today. He was accompanied by Sector Magistrates Mr. Chiran Rizal, Mr. Vishu Lama, Liasion Officer Mr. Chewang Bhutia, Booth Level and other election officials.

The Observer inspected the various polling stations namely Sorok Syampani, Gom, Assangthang, Sambung, Mamley and Kamrang. At Kamrang the Observer attended the Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) program wherein he informed them about the aim and objective of this program. He also updated that SVEEP is
a flagship program of the Election Commission of India for voter education, spreading voter awareness and promoting voter literacy in India. He also briefly interacted with the participants of this program and encouraged them to enthusiastically take part in the electoral process.

At, the polling stations the Observer inquired of the facilities provided for senior citizens, infirm and physically challenged voters. He also updated that assistance should be provided for Infirm voters, ramp has also to be set up and it is mandatory for the polling stations to have clean and hygienic washroom for both male and female as well as adequate medical provision. He also updated the BLOs to print and put up the phone numbers of the Returning Officers and other election agents for the convenience of the general public.
