Press Release from Sikkim Biodiversity Board

Gangtok, 4th March 2021: The Sikkim Biodiversity Board under the Forest & Environment department is in the process of field data addition for the documentation of the People’s Biodiversity Register for all the Biodiversity Management Committees in the State. For this purpose a meeting was coordinated by the Sikkim Biodiversity Board with the Technical Support Group and the PBR-Coordinators on 24th February 2021, 10.30 am at Barbet Hall, Forest Secretariat, Deorali.
In the meeting, which was chaired by Dr D Manjunatha (IFS) Member Secretary of Sikkim Biodiversity Board, he explained to all the participants on the importance of collection and maintenance of extensive field data. It was also explained that the maintenance of the PBRs is mandatory. Smt Bhumika Rai, DFO (Sikkim Biodiversity Board) explained how the data collection should be facilitated between all the parties involved in the process. Dr Bharat Kumar Pradhan, Technical Associate (Sikkim Biodiversity Board) gave an insight as to what type of data is to be collected. The meeting also included discussion amongst the participants.
