Gangtok, 18 Feb (IPR): A review meeting for the upcoming 1st Global Cinema Festival Sikkim 2020 was held at the conference hall of Soochna Bhawan, IPR Department today.
The meeting was chaired by IPR Secretary, Ms Namrata Thapa, in the presence of Ms Benu Gurung, Director IPR, Ms Mrinalini Shrivastava, Special Secretary, C&I, and Shri T. Dorjee, Director ACFC, Tourism Department along with a host of media and film personalities including film directors, producers, promoters, etc.
The meeting was conducted to discuss and prepare ideas and create necessary action plans for the upcoming 1st Global Cinema Film Festival Sikkim 2020 scheduled to be held from 28th February to 1st March 2020.
The main objective for organising the upcoming Global Cinema Festival Sikkim 2020 is to provide a platform and create a warm, non-competitive and visitor-friendly atmosphere for films, filmmakers, volunteers, guests and audience.
Various ideas and plans were discussed for the extensive promotion and marketing of the the festival including logistics, advertisements and transportation.
Ms Mrinalini Shrivastava shared her views and insights and provided necessary details related to the event. She also shared the floor plan of the venue on the inaugural day of the event.
Further, she provided in-depth analysis on significant deliverables of the action plan to be adopted for the smooth success of the event.
Ms Namrata Thapa, Secretary, IPR Department speaking during the meeting informed about the launch of Sikkim Film Policy by IPR Department on the inaugural day of the festival.
She also highlighted that the department is prepared for the upcoming event and added that the concerned departments like Power and Education will be working in close coordination and providing all possible help to make this event a grand success.
She further informed that skillful individuals will be invited to attend the technical sessions and skill development workshops under the aegis of NFDC and Film Industry during the course of the festival.
She also discussed ways to make the Global Film Festival website more user-friendly and further informed that a pre event press conference will be held on 25th February 2020 for wider publicity and dissemination of news and information regarding the festival.
The meeting concluded with the Secretary, IPR Department extending her best wishes for the grand success of the festival.
