Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang accompanied by Madam Krishna Rai graced the State level Teej festival celebration at Golitar, Singtam.
The festival is celebrated in honour of the Hindu goddess of power, energy, nourishment, harmony, love, beauty, devotion, and motherhood. She is the physical representation of Mahadevi, also known as Adi Shakti, the primordial power behind the creation of the universe, the creator and destroyer.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister praised the resilience and determination of women as they advance through life with utmost respect and dignity. He emphasized the indispensable role of women, without whom, the society would lose all its meaning.
He highlighted the State government's women-centric initiatives, such as Aama, Bahini, Vatsalya, and numerous others, aimed at empowering and uplifting women of Sikkim, encouraging them to persist in their inspiring journey with unwavering spirit.
Earlier, the organising committee felicitated the Chief Minister for his support, which added a significant touch of prestige to the event showcasing the government's commitment in embracing and preserving the cultural heritage of the region.
Likewise, Chief Minister handed over trophies and cash prize to the winners of the traditional dance competition, wherein Geyzing district stood first while Pakyong district bagged the second position, Gangtok district stood third, Namchi district bagged the fourth position, Soreng district stood fifth and Mangan bagged the sixth position.
