Gangtok, 29th November 2022(IPR): Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang chaired a high-level meeting with the Power Grid Corporation of India, represented by CMD K Sreekant and the team at the conference hall of Chintan Bhawan, Gangtok.
Shri Kunga Nima, Minister of Land Revenue and Disaster Management, Shri Mingma Norbu Sherpa, Minister of Power Department, Shri BS Panth, Minister of Tourism Department, Chief Secretary of the State, Shri ML Srivastav ACS cum PCCF, Forest Department, District Magistrates, Superintendent of Police, DFOs of different districts, HoDs of different allied departments, the Government of Sikkim and CMO officials were present in the meeting.
The meeting was to discuss the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening Transmission and Distribution System in Sikkim. Various matters for the scope of work and services, like design/ engineering, tendering and awarding, work execution and testing & commissioning, and important issues regarding the execution of responsibilities by the Power Department, Government of Sikkim, were discussed elaborately.
Similarly, the responsibility of the Power Department, Government of Sikkim, like land acquisition for new substations, the right way of clearances, and administrative approval maintaining law and order, were weighed up.
The Chief Minister further discussed the project line and the working status with the respective District Magistrates of the Gangtok, Mangan, Namchi, Gyalshing, and Soreng Districts.
The meeting participants addressed various issues, and the Chief Minister suggested amicable solutions accordingly. He urged the officials to address concerns related to the power grid in the State and execute the work at the earliest possible time
