Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang conveyed his heartiest congratulations to
Shri YapChung Kazi also known as “ Abha” and the radio man of Sikkim on being conferred with Sangeet Natak Akademi Amrit Award in a function held at New Delhi for his contribution in the promotion of folk music.
“Shri YapChung’s journey in this field has been remarkable, and it is with great admiration that we acknowledge the profound impact”, said the Chief Minister. His dedication to his craft has been persistent and is a source of inspiration, serving as a shining example of the heights that can be reached through hard work and creativity, he further added.
Shri Yapchung Kazi's unparalleled commitment to his profession is evident throughout his remarkable career. Commencing his journey at Kurseong radio in 1962, he later transitioned to All India Radio, Gangtok, in 1982, where he diligently served as a radio host for an impressive 42-year tenure. Even after retiring in 2000, his legacy endures in the hearts of Sikkim's residents, who hold him in high esteem for his substantial contributions to both radio and television.
