Chief Minister of Sikkim attends Sirijunga Teyongsi Celebration at Martam

The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) with his spouse Smt. Krishna Maya Rai graced the 318th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Teyongsi Sirijunga as a Chief Guest organised by Mahatma Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Yen Celebration Committee at Sirijunga Mangheem, Martam, West Sikkim, today.
Teyongsi Sirijunga Sawan Tongnam marks the birth anniversary of the famous 18th-century scholar Teyongsi Sirijunga, who was born in Limbuwan in 1704. He is famous for his legendary role as a revivalist of the Limboo's age-old traditional legacy in the state.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister was accompanied by the Hon’ble Deputy Speaker SLA, Shri Sangay Lepcha, Minister, Shri Kunga Nima Lepcha, Minister-cum-Area MLA Gyalshing-Barnyak Constituency and the Chief Patron of the Programme, Shri Lok Nath Sharma, MLAs, Smt. Sunita Gazmer, Shri Aditya Tamang (Golay), Shri K.S. Lepcha, MP (Lok Sabha), Shri Indra Hang Limboo, Chairpersons, Advisors, Zilla Adhakshyas (Gyalshing & Soreng), Up-Adhakshya (Gyalshing), District Collectors (Gyalshing & Soreng), dignitaries, officials and public at large.
The Hon'ble CM in his address, lauded the committee’s efforts in making the anniversary of Teyongsi Sirijunga a grand success. He then mentioned that the birth anniversary is not just an important occasion for Limboo Community but for all Sikkimese populous also. He further stated that the State of Sikkim strives for cultural and communal harmony hence, all Sikkimese festivals are to be viewed as state festival and the state will host a two events at international level in the upcoming days, he informed.
Furthermore, the HCM mentioned that the demand for renovation and beautification of Sirijunga Mangheem will be done at the earliest and also Teyongsi Sirijunga Study Center at Hee Patal will develop later and completed in the days to come. He also made a special mention to the 371 F and apprised that it would be protected at any cost.
In addition, he congratulated all the elected Zilla Adhakshyas and Up-Adhakshyas and asked them to work forward for the development of the district and the state as a whole. He also highlighted all the development works carried out by the State Government in the last few years.
Minister-cum-Area MLA, Shri Sharma in his brief address, mentioned that the Sirijunga cave should be promoted and upgrade it into eco-heritage, so that it will become a tourist destination, he stated. He further highlighted the various developmental works done by the State Government in the district.
The event also released a book named "Limbus of Sikkim, a brief Social and Political History" written by Bhuddhi L. Khamdhak
