38th National Games – Uttarakhand 2025
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand, scheduled to take place from January 28 to February 14, 2025.
This landmark event will witness participation from over 10,000 athletes, coaches, and officials representing various states and Union Territories across India. Competitions will span 38 sports disciplines and will be hosted across multiple cities in Uttarakhand.
For the first time, Uttarakhand will proudly host the National Games, a significant achievement since the state was announced as the host. The event promises to celebrate India’s rich sporting culture by featuring a blend of traditional and modern sports, including demonstration sports such as:• Kalarippayattu , Yogasana , Mallakhamb and Rafting .
Marking a significant milestone, Sikkim will participate in five disciplines with almost 45 athletes and officials in 1) Archery 2) Boxing 3) Cycling 4) Football (Girls) and 5) Taekwondo. This participation is especially symbolic as Sikkim celebrates its 50th year of statehood in 2025, adding a layer of pride and cultural significance to the event. The 38th National Games aim to not only promote athletic excellence but also foster unity, cultural exchange, and national pride through the spirit of sportsmanship.
