Date: 05-Sep-2024
Gangtok, September 5 (IPR): As part of the State Government’s commitment in attaining 100% pass percentage in Class X board examination in the State, Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay launched the ‘Chief Minister Mentorship Program’ today during the state-level Teachers’ Day Celebration at Manan Kendra.
Additional Chief Secretary Mr R Telang highlighted that the current pass percentage for Class X was 67%, up from 61% last year. He credited the experimental winter coaching program, introduced last year, for the 5% improvement. "We are encouraged by the results and will now launch the program comprehensively," Telang added.
Under the mentorship program, 90 selected teachers will receive specialised training focused on the technicalities of board examinations. The Education Department will set up centers to conduct three rounds of trial exams, where students will write the exams in a format similar to the actual board exams. Students' performances will be thoroughly evaluated, and those needing additional support will receive focused attention to improve their results.
