16th Finance Commission of India Chairman Kicks Off Gangtok District

Gangtok, January 19 (IPR): 
The Chairman, 16th Finance Commission of India (GoI), Dr Arvind Panagariya, along with the members Mr Ajay Narayan Jha , Ms Annie George Mathew, Dr Manoj Panda and Mr Ritvik Pandey, Secretary, on their arrival at Gangtok district today visited a series of venues at Rumtek Monsatery and Cymbidium Development Centre located at Sajong at Rumtek on the first day.
The Chairman began his official visit to Sikkim with offering his reverence and taking blessings at the Rumtek monastery and thereafter, visited Karma Shri Nalanda Institute for Higher Studies in Buddhist Studies.
It is to be noted that on the first leg of the meeting the Chairman and the diginitaries were accorded a warm welcome by Mr Hishey Wangchuk Bhutia Assistant Director Ecclesiasitical Department, Government of Sikkim (GoS) and Mr Nawang C Bhutia Assistant Director Ecclesiastical Department GoS.
On the second leg of his meeting, the Chairman paid a visit to Cymbidium Development Centre at Rumtek under Horticulture Department. The Chairman visited a series of venues at Cymbidium Development Centre at Rumtek such as Tissue Culture Labratory, Orchid Culture Unit and Orchid Processing Unit at the same venue.
The Chairman was welcomed by Mr Tilak Gazmer Secretary Horticultuture Department, Mr Suman K Sharma Principal Director Horticultuture Department, Mr BL Dahal Director Horticulture Department, and Officers of Horticulture Department who were present during the reception ceremony.
The visit at Rumtek Monastery and Cymbidium Development Centre at Rumtek concludes the first day of the visit by Mr Dr Arvind Panagariya Chairman 16th Finance Commission of India (GoI).
The Chairman and dignitaries have arrived in Gangtok District for a five-day official visit, spanning from January 19 to 23, 2025. During their stay, they will engage in a series of official meetings and interaction sessions with key stakeholders, including Government of Sikkim, Urban Local Bodies, Rural Local Bodies Stakeholders, Trades, and Industries, and Representatives of Various Political Parties.
