1st Open Badminton Tournament 2025 Kicks Off in Soreng
Soreng, April 13, 2025 (IPR):
The eagerly awaited 1st Open Badminton Tournament 2025, organized by the Soreng Badminton Association under the patronage of Mr. Aditya Golay, Area MLA-cum-Chief Patron, commenced today at the Jautar Indoor Stadium, Soreng. The tournament witnessed an enthusiastic turnout, attracting participants from across the state, neighboring states, and other parts of the country.
The event, dedicated to fostering badminton enthusiasts and promoting the sport, welcomed dignitaries such as Mr Erung Tenzing Lepcha (MLA, Rinchenpong Constituency), Mr CP Sharma (Press Advisor to the Chief Minister), Mr AB Subba (Secretary, Road and Bridge Department), Mr Hari Shankar Sharma (Principal Chief Engineer, Public Health Engineering Department), and Mr Rajen Basnet (former President, Soreng Badminton Association).
In his opening address, Mr. Aditya Golay expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Minister, Mr. Prem Singh Tamang (Golay), for his unwavering support and vision in creating opportunities for young athletes. He also commended the Soreng Badminton Association, the Administrative Council, and the local badminton community for their collaborative efforts in organising the event.
Mr. Dilip Sharma, General Secretary of the Soreng Badminton Association, echoed similar sentiments during his address. He acknowledged the pivotal role of the state government in fostering sportsmanship and supporting young talent in the region.
