A one-day workshop on PM Vishwakarma Yojana held in Yuksam

Gyalshing, August 19 (IPR): A One Day workshop on PM Vishwakarma Yojna organised by the State Level Bankers Committee, Sikkim in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India organized a daylong seminar cum awareness programme on the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana at Village administrative Centre, Yuksam under Gyalshing district today.
Mr Ds Limboo, Zilla Adakshya Gyalshing, graced the event as the Chief guest alongside other distinguished guests, including Mr Yogen Syangden SDM Yuksam, Mr Karzang Bhutia Panchayat vice President, Ms Dawa Yanki Bhutia BPM SRLM, Mr Gadadhar Ray CM, SLBC, Mr Kallol Bhattacharya Lead Bank Officer State Bank of India, Gangtok, Mr Pradeep Ahmed Lead Bank Officer CBI, Pakyong, Mr Manas Das, Team Lead-PM Vishwakarma, Commerce & Industry Department, BPM RDD, SRLM, official from Line Department, CBI Legship Branch, CRISIL. The event drew a notable gathering of around 150 participants.
The PM Vishwakarma Yojana, a flagship initiative of the Central Government, aims to bolster the Guru-Shishya Parampara by supporting traditional artisans and craftspeople. The scheme targets trades such as blacksmithing, goldsmithing, pottery, carpentry, and other traditional crafts, offering a comprehensive package of benefits including training, technology access, credit support, and market assistance.
Resource persons from SLBC Sikkim provided detailed insights into the scheme, highlighting the eligibility criteria, benefits, and the application process. Attendees were informed about the scheme's various incentives, including a toolkit worth Rs 15,000, daily training allowances, and collateral-free credit support of up to Rs 2 lakh at a concessional interest rate of 5%. The scheme also offers incentives for digital transactions and marketing support.
It was shared during the workshop that the PM Vishwakarma scheme is a transformative initiative of the Government of India and will directly benefit thousands of artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools in 18 trades. Queries and concerns raised by the participants were also cleared by providing them with a better understanding of how they can leverage the scheme for their personal and professional growth.
In his address, Mr Ds Limboo Zilla Adakshya Gyalshing commended the SLBC Sikkim for organizing such a beneficial programme aimed at uplifting rural artisans. He emphasized the importance of such programmes for rural artisans and encouraged them to take full advantage of the schemes available and appealed to the artisans to preserve traditional skills and heritage through local arts and crafts. He also highlighted the need for a nationalized bank in Yuksam, given its significance as a tourism hub, to facilitate easier access to financial services for the local population.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr Passang Thendup Bhutia, Centre Manager for the Centre for Financial Literacy (CFL), Yuksam.
