A real-time mock drill at STNM Hospital, Sochyagang

Gangtok, September 12 (IPR): A mock scenario of an earthquake, which included GLOF, was created at Sochyagang in the Gangtok district today. One portion of the hospital building was damaged.
The scenario included a Search and Rescue operation for the trapped patients and staff. The NDRF team also evacuated a total of 5 individuals from the building, and similarly, the STNM Hospital Search and Rescue team evacuated 9 individuals.
Additionally, first aid was given to 12 casualties, followed by the casualty evacuation of 2 patients who were taken in ambulances for future referral to an alternative hospital.
Moreover, as an important measure, the task force, after the damage assessment, commenced the quick restoration of the hospital.
A total number of 23 victims of the disaster were brought to the hospital, out of which 4 victims were brought deceased to the hospital. Immediate first aid was provided to all the casualties.
Later, the Relief Commissioner cum Secretary, Land Revenue & Disaster Management (LR&DM), Major Sudhir Bahl(Retd), Sr Lead Consultant (ME & IRS) along with the Responsible Officer cum District Magistrate, Operation Section Chief cum Sr Superintendent of Police, Gangtok, Incident Commander, Planning Section Chief and officers visited the STNM hospital, Sochyagang.
