Gangtok, September 12 (IPR): As part of a district-level emergency mock drill exercise on the earthquake, earthquake-induced GLOF at Marchak, Rakdong Tintek under the supervision of the Block Development Officer, Rakdong-Tintek.
As per the mock drill program, a landslide was presumed at 9:30 a.m. after which the Radio Station and Police started alerting sirens.
The initial responders including the local panchayats, officials from Rakdong Tintek Block Administrative Centre (BAC) assembled at the staging area with resources after which various teams reached the presumed landslide area including a medical team from Samsong Primary Health Centre, officials from Forest Department, police personnel from Makha and Dikchu Police Outpost rushed to presumed sites for search, rescue operation and relief followed by assessments.
The exercises were conducted in coordination with various agencies, such as the fire service, forest department, GREF, health department, police, State Disaster Response Forces, civil defence and stakeholders.
During real-time exercise, around 26 people were considered to be injured and one casualty was reported.
A similar mock drill exercise was conducted at Sneha Kinetic Power Project Limited, Dikchu.
