Gangtok, December 20 (IPR): In a moment of immense pride and celebration, the State Women Football Team has made history by earning a nomination for the 38th National Games, set to take place in Uttarakhand in February 2025.
Competing in the Women’s Football category, this remarkable achievement marks the team’s debut appearance at the prestigious event, a testament to their outstanding performance during the 2023-24 Senior National Football Championships.
Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the team, recognising their historic accomplishment. As they prepare to take the national stage, the team carries with them the hope and pride of an entire state, ready to inspire and make a lasting impact in the world of football, he said.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister stated that this milestone not only highlights the team’s relentless passion and dedication to the sport, but also underscores the rising standards of women’s sports in the state. “Their commitment to excellence has not only brought honour to the region, but also serves as an inspiration for aspiring athletes across the nation”, shared the Chief Minister.
The football competition will be held in Haldwani, Uttarakhand, in February adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game.
