Citizens Foundation and HDFC Bank Parivartan launch new rural project
Pakyong, October 25 (IPR): The project launch of the Holistic Rural Development Programme (HRDP), SIMANA Sikkim, implemented by Citizens Foundation, in collaboration with HDFC Bank Parivartan was held at the Rurban Community Complex, Pakyong today.
The initiative aims to empower communities across 19 villages under Pakyong District through targeted interventions in livelihood, education, health, and natural resource management.
Addressing the gathering, Ms Prabha Pradhan, Zilla Upadhakshya, expressed her appreciation for the initiatives undertaken by the organisation across various sectors, emphasising the significant impact these efforts have on fostering holistic development within the community at the grassroots level.
In addition, she highlighted the critical importance of collaboration between local bodies and organisations, urging that such partnerships are essential for delivering the best possible services to the community.
Additionally, Mr Robin Pd Sewa, ADC (Dev) lauded the efforts of the Citizens Foundation in developing communities and contributing towards uplifting the local communities and promoting sustainable growth, further stressing to work in tandem for sustainable development.
Furthermore, he also advised adopting a healthy lifestyle for personal growth and transforming lives and appealed to focus on cultivating crops and making use of agricultural technology to enhance productivity.
During the event, Mr Madan Mani Dhakal, Chief Medical Officer Pakyong, shared insightful ideas aimed at strengthening the health sector in the region. He emphasised that health is a personal responsibility and each individual should take proactive steps in prioritising their well-being and actively contribute towards enhancing community health.
Earlier, Ms Sangita Dahal, Project Manager provided a brief overview of the project and shared its key features which include livelihood, enhancement and skill training, promotion of education, health, hygiene and sanitation and natural resource management to empower and uplift rural communities.
The day also witnessed a session wherein community representatives and panchayats from various regions shared their experiences and challenges from the previous HRDP project.
Also present during the programme were Mr BP Sharma, JD Education, BDO Pakyong, BDO Parakha, officials from Citizens Foundation, SRLM and Panchayats.
