Creative Design training under RAMP scheme concludes at Pakyong

Pakyong, February 05 (IPR): The valedictory session of the training programme on Creative Design under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme was held at the Asian Anime & Manga Academy (AAMA) campus at Namcheybong, Pakyong, today.
The training programme was organised by the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim.
Additional Political Secretary to HCM, Pakyong, Mr Bishal Sharma, graced the programme as the chief guest, alongside OSD, Water Resources Department, Mr Gagan Gurung, as the guest of honour.
Panchayat President, Namcheybong GPU, Mrs Sakila Rai; GM, DIC, Pakyong District, Mr Jigmee W Bhutia; and Chief Coordinator, SEED Cell, Mr Raj Lama attended the session as special guests.
During the session, APS, Mr Bishal Sharma, expressed gratitude to the Commerce and Industries Department, the MSME Department, and the AAMA Studio for bringing the creative design training initiative to Pakyong, and remarked that the presence of such a studio in the area was a matter of pride.
He congratulated the participants on the launch of the manga book depicting the culture of Sikkim and encouraged them to continue working collectively, noting the importance of collaboration in taking such initiatives forward.
SPIU, RAMP, and Mr Keshav Kumar briefed the participants on the RAMP scheme and outlined the support mechanisms available under the programme, including opportunities for entrepreneurship and financial linkages. He also explained the process of initiating entrepreneurial ventures and highlighted the potential to access wider markets.
Following this, Mr Raj Lama highlighted various initiatives and ongoing work undertaken by the government to support entrepreneurs and encouraged the participants to continue their creative and entrepreneurial pursuits beyond the duration of the programme.
Likewise, Chief Learning Officer, 24hours Inspired and Founder, AAMA Studio, Mr Dewakar Basnet, provided an overview of the training programme and informed that the training mainly focused on manga, noting its growing scope and potential. He expressed hope that Sikkim could emerge as a hub for animation, with the broader objective of fostering creativity through the studio and the training initiative. He also expressed gratitude to the Commerce and Industries Department for its support.
Commenced on January 6, the training programme offered a 20-day intensive course on anime and manga, covering key concepts and techniques, with a total of twenty participants taking part in the programme.
During the valedictory session, a manga book titled One Story, Four Perspectives was unveiled.
Also, trainers from Studio Kapi and participants shared their experiences of the training programme.
The Asian Anime and Manga Academy (AAMA), Sikkim’s first anime and manga studio located at Namcheybong, Pakyong, aims to promote anime, manga, and animation by providing structured training and professional exposure to local talent.
The programme was supported under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme, a World Bank-supported Central Sector Scheme implemented through the MSME Department, aimed at improving access of MSMEs to market, finance, and technology upgradation. The scheme also focuses on strengthening institutions at the Central and State levels and enhancing Centre-State collaboration.
Also present at the session were officials from the Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Sikkim.
