DC Gyalshing Chairs DCDC meeting in Gyalshing District

Gyalshing, 10 February (IPR):
Two pivotal meetings were held under the Chairmanship of Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, District Collector, Gyalshing District,at DAC Conference Hall, Rabdentse, today.
District Cooperative Development Committee meeting Chaired by Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, District Collector, Gyalshing, the primary aim of the meeting was to discuss and coordinate the implementation of IYC-2025 initiatives. It may be mentioned here that the United Nations has officially declared 2025 as the "International Year of Cooperatives (IYC)"under the theme "Cooperatives Build a Better World."
The meeting was also attended by Ms Rajani Sharma ADC (Headquarters) Gyalshing, Dr NK Pradhan, Jt. General Manager (Sikkim Milk Union), Mrs Laden Gensapa JRCS (Cooperation) Gyalshing, Dr P Gurung, AH & VS, Mr Palden Bhutia DRCS (Cooperation), Mr Ajit Gurung AO (Cooperation), Mr Rakesh Pradhan DRCS (Cooperative), Mr Sital Rai Auditor (Cooperative), Mr Lahang Limboo AD Fisheries, Mr Krishna Limboo DIO (IPRD), Mr Bishnu Prasad Sharma Manager MPCS Ltd., Mr Devendra Sharma Vice President (Gyalshing Kyongsa MPCS), Mr Karma Tshering Bhutia Branch Manager SISCO Bank Gyalshing and Assistant General Manager/DDM NABARD, as members of the District Cooperative Development Committee.
The meeting commenced with Mrs Laden Gensapa, JRCS (Cooperation) Gyalshing briefing the gathering on the aims and objectives of the meeting. She informed that since 2025 is the International Year of Cooperatives , a yearlong activity calendar has been prepared in collaboration with Sikkim Milk Union, SISCO Bank, and NABARD, ensuring a grand district-level celebration. She highlighted various activities planned for 2025, including:
- Selection of high-performing MPCSs across aspirational blocks in the district.
-Capacity-building and training programs for cooperative functionaries.
-Committee board meetings, literacy, and awareness campaigns in identified areas.
-Inauguration of new cooperative facilities and infrastructure.
-Exhibitions and events aligned with major state and national celebrations such as the 50th year of Sikkim’s statehood, World Environment Day, National Cooperative Day, Swachh Bharat Mission, among others.
-Recognition and felicitation initiatives for outstanding contributions in the cooperative sector.
District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee Meeting:
The second half of the session comprised the District Level Implementation and Monitoring Committee meeting, which focused on the computerization of MPCSs in the district.The Branch Manager, SISCO Bank Gyalshing, provided an overview of the initiative, which involves supplying MPCSs with computers pre-installed with Government of India software and conducting training sessions for cooperative members. During discussions, he highlighted challenges faced due to limited digital literacy among members, a concern that was also echoed by Mrs. Laden Gensapa, JRCS (Cooperation).
Addressing the meeting, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa commended the collective efforts of the members and stakeholders in strengthening the cooperative sector in Sikkim. He directed officials to expedite ongoing and pending projects aimed at enhancing and uplifting the cooperative sector. He specifically emphasized the need to extend cooperative services to remote areas such as Karzee Mangnam, Kongri Labdang, and Dhupi Dara Narkhola,ensuring the presence of government institutions is felt even in the most far-flung villages. He remarked that true governance is measured by how effectively services reach the most inaccessible populations. Additionally, he underscored the importance of digital literacy and skill-based training, particularly in areas such as computer and digital literacy, which are essential in today’s fast-evolving world. He directed officials to initiate a pilot project, identifying MPCSs for targeted training programs while addressing any existing gaps and challenges. Concluding the session, Mr. Denzongpa assured that the District Collector’s Office remains committed to providing all necessary support for cooperative development, stressing that no bureaucratic hurdles should impede progress.
The meeting reached a consensus on a common mandate to conduct additional training sessions at MPCSs,ensuring continued handholding and support from all stakeholders.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Mr Karma Tshering Bhutia, Branch Manager, SISCO Bank Gyalshing.
