DC Pakyong chairs the the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) meeting

Pakyong, 22 July (IPR): The District Collector Pakyong, Mr Agawane Rohan Ramesh, IAS, chaired the first session of the District Level Monitoring Committee (DLMC) under the Scheme Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER) Phase-IV today at the District Administrative Centre in Pakyong.
The meeting was attended by Mr Robin Pd Sewa, ADC (Dev) Pakyong; Mr Tshering Chophel Bhutia, Additional Director, Agriculture and Horticulture Department; Ms Kessang Yanki, Additional Registrar, Cooperation Department; Dr Anjala Pradhan, Additional Director, AH&VS; Ms Rebecca Gurung, Deputy Director, Agriculture Department; Ms Gauri Mukhia, Assistant Director, Directorate of Fisheries; and other committee members.
The District Collector cum Chairperson of the DLMC reviewed the implementation strategies for the scheme and directed committee members to undertake necessary activities to bolster the scheme's effectiveness.
Additionally, he suggested creating a thorough plan for what needs to be done and setting a schedule for the entire year that includes training sessions for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs).
Mr Tshering Chophel Bhutia, Additional Director of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the North Eastern Region (MOVCD-NER).
This Central Sector Scheme, under the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, aims to develop certified organic production in a value chain mode, linking growers with consumers and supporting the entire value chain from inputs, seeds, and certification to facilities for collection, aggregation, processing, marketing, and brand building.
He provided a step-by-step explanation regarding the agricultural activities under MOVCD-NER. He also informed that three phases of the scheme have been completed, and Phase IV is currently being implemented.
The State Project Coordinator for ICCOA, Mr Kashi Nath Nepal, followed with updates on the scheme's registration and mobilisation process. He addressed to important concerns brought up at the meeting, emphasising a joint venture to achieve the objectives of the Mission Organic Value Chain Development for the Northeast Region.
