DC Soreng Chairs NCORD Monthly Review Meeting at DAC Soreng

Soreng, August 30 (IPR): Mr Dhiraj Subedi District Collector (Soreng) chaired the monthly review meeting of the Narco Coordination (NCORD) committee at the District Administrative Centre Soreng, today.
The meeting had the presence and participation of Mr DR Bista ADC (Soreng), Mr Prem K Subba SDM (HQ), Mr Sameer Pradhan SDPO (Soreng), Mr Tsheten Tashi Lepcha DFO (T), Mr SP Sharma Joint Director (Education), Mr Pranay Rai Inspector Excise, Mr Lakpa Sangay Sherpa Drug Inspector (Drug Cell), Ms Jyotsna Rai Welfare Inspector, Mr Nabin Gurung BTM Agricultural (Soreng) and Counsellors PHC (Soreng).
Addressing the house, Mr Dhiraj Subedi DC (Soreng) revisited the discussions from the previous NCORD meeting, emphasizing the critical drug situation in Soreng and the need for urgent and comprehensive action from all concerned departments. Talking about the concept of “Nasha Mukth Sikkim” he emphasised on reviving the concept of the “Complaint Box” at schools where this initiative allows students to anonymously submit any complaints, fostering a safe environment for voicing concerns. He then urged the core committee to intensify sensitization programs to educate and inform the community about the dangers of drug abuse.
Additionally, he showed his gratitude towards the district Police Department and commended for the wonderful job that they have been doing in the district.
Further, the committee decided that “Complaint Boxes” would be installed in all schools of the district, with the boxes being checked monthly at Senior Secondary Schools and quarterly at Junior High Schools.
During the course of the meeting, Mr Sameer Pradhan SDPO (Soreng) highlighted significant challenges in Rehabilitation Centres. He also proposed the idea of establishing a Rehabilitation Centre managed by the District Administration Centre in Soreng district. He added that many cannabis plants have been uprooted and the survey has been conducted by the Police department.
