DTFI, DLCC Meeting held at Mangan
Mangan , February 20 (IPR): District Collector Mangan, Mr Anant Jain (IAS), chaired a pivotal meeting, namely on the District Task Force Immunisation (DTFI) regarding Social Awareness and Action to Neutralise Pneumonia Successfully (SAANS) as well as the first round of National Deworming Day (NDD) and under District Level Coordination Committee on National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), in his chamber, today.
Present at the meeting were Mr Sonam Detchu Bhutia (SP Mangan), Mr Kado Lepcha (Adhyaksha),Dr Tempo T Kaleon (CMO), Mr Karma Tshering Bhutia (Joint Director, Education Department), Dr Tshering Zomba Lachenpa (DRCHO), Dr M Subba (MO), Ms Sonam Laden Lachungpa (Deputy Director, Women and Child Development Department), Ms Mingma Sherpa (DQC), Ms Paden Bhutia (Sr DPHNO) ,Mr Rinchen Namgyal Bhutia (HE), Ms Norkit Lepcha (Councillor President), Mr Dup Tshering Bhutia (MNP Inspector) ,Ms Norzam Bhutia (Zilla Panchayat) ,Ms Norkey Khandu (LHV), Mr Prashant Gurung (VCCM) and staff of Mangan district hospital.
Addressing the meeting DC-cum-Chairperson Mr Anant Jain emphasised on the importance of community involvement in public health initiatives and urged all stakeholders to work in collaboration in order to achieve better health outcomes for the population.
The meeting saw deliberation on Routined Immunisation and the overall performance of the district, National Deworming Day (NDD), National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS), PMJAY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana), AEFI (Adverse Event Following Immunisation), Maternal and Infant Mortality, School Health and Wellness Programme and on PC-PNDT Act (Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques Act, 1994). Preparedness and review reports in the district, including challenges, awareness, strategies to be implemented and other vital aspects were also discussed in detail.
Regarding the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Health Educator spoke on the awareness campaigns on tobacco free educational institutions (ToFEI), training provided to stake holders especially law enforcers and teachers and enforcement activities conducted at Mangan bazar and Rangrang, where penalty were imposed to violators and awareness given regarding Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products (COTPA). He also gave an overview of ongoing health campaigns and their impact on the local population
SP Mangan stated that the law enforcement has been diligently playing their role in ensuring the safety and awareness in this regard by conducting regular checks and inspections.
Ms Mingma Y Sherpa, District Quality Consultant, informed on on the progress and challenges related to the implementation of the National Quality Assurance Standards in healthcare facilities. Likewise, Dr Tshering Zomba Lachenpa, DRCHO shared insights on the district’s maternal and child health initiatives, focusing on reducing mortality and improving healthcare access.
The meeting also had an interactive session wherein various suggestions were considered mainly strengthening inter-departmental coordination, enhancing public awareness and ensuring the effective implementation of various health programmes.
