District Academic Improvement Programme Award Ceremony 2024 concludes in Gangtok

Gangtok, April 16 (IPR):
The award ceremony of District Academic Improvement Programme (DAIP) was successfully conducted here at PM Shri Tashi Namgyal Government Senior Secondary School Development Area, Gangtok, today.
The programme was organised by District Project Office (Samagra Shiksha) Education Department Gangtok District.
Principal Director (School Education) Education Department Mr Sonam Denzongpa, in his keynote address, expressed satisfaction on seeing the successful implementation of the objectives of DAIP in Gangtok District. He also gave brief history of how the programme came to fruitition.
The Principal Director applauded the efforts put forth by the Officers and teachers to implement the objectives of DAIP in various Government schools in the district. Further, he elaborated that the award ceremony was organised to encourage the teachers to put in more effort in their teaching career. Furthermore, he remarked that work hard should be combined with discipline to become exemplary teachers in the society to meet the high expectation of government school teachers. Further, he added that teachers should have the objective of unlocking the potential within the students so that they can give their best to the society.
In his concluding remarks, he requested the teachers to live up to the expectations of the society and to go extra mile to unlock the full potential of the students.
Director School Education/Planning Education Department Mr Subbiah Gundur, extended his warm wishes towards the teachers gathered in the dias. He expanded on the objective of the education to create a civilised society. The Director applauded the teachers for bringing new enthusiasm among the students through their efforts but also directed them to continue to strive for excellence year after year. Further, he urged the teachers to put extra effort to bring the best in students. He also expressed his joy on being part of a State which offers autonomy for development of education without any hassles. He concluded his speech by thanking everyone for the invitation for this monumental occasion.
Joint Director Academics Education Department Ms Hannah Yonzan, gave a brief report on DAIP wherein she explained the adherence of progressive approach of DAIP in sync with National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The objective of programme being the enhancement of learning outcome and increase enrollment in Government schools, she highlighted the objectives of the DAIP and its core objective of bringing holistic development of education system in the district.
The Joint Director highlighted various activities under DAIP wherein teachers in the district received special training to improve their teaching-learning ability. She also shared success stories bought in by improvement in teacher-parent collaboration leading to improved administrative reforms in school.
Further, the Joint Director stated the importance of conducting award ceremony for the teaching faculties which streamlines the skill of teacher in tandem with DAIP training. She spoke highly about the success bought on by implementation of DAIP in various Government schools through structured strategies, collaborative efforts of stakeholders and data evaluative improvements in the education system. In her concluding remarks, she hoped that the efforts of the DAIP can set the benchmark for education system not just in Gangtok district but at holistic level in the State of Sikkim.
Earlier, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Gangtok Ms Chime Donka Denjongpa, in her welcome address, considered it a privilege and honour to be a part of the DAIP award ceremony. The CEO recalled the year-long journey of hardwork and dedication leading to this day and thanked everyone involved in the DAIP to make it a grand success.
The CEO apprised the vision of DAIP to foster academic excellence in the district wherein the involvement of students play a vital role. In her special mention, she appreciated the efforts of Dr Hannah Yonzan for her dedication on fulfilling objectives of DAIP in Government schools.
The CEO in her concluding remarks stated that the journey towards excellence in education system in the district has just begun but expressed full confidence in her team to achieve more accolades in the near future.
During the course of the programme, Block Incharge BAC Ranka Ms Pronita Subba and Head Mistress Government Secondary School Lumsey Ms Tenzing Tshedame Bhutia shared their experience on DAIP wherein they deliberated the impact of the programme on various schools. They also spoke about various features such as newly designed Parents-Teachers' meeting, inclusion of Centralised Question Papers in the school syllabus, formation of Academic Mentoring Team and improvement of Government schools at Block level through involvement of Monitoring team.
The programme included felicitation of various categories such as Himalayn Teacher Professional Development Foundation (HTPDF) Team, Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) for Maths and English Teachers (Class 4 and Class 5) Trainees and Children with Special Needs (CWSN) from various Government schools in Gangtok District.
