District Level Closing Ceremony of 10th Anniversary of (BBBP) conducted at Rinchenpong Soreng
Soreng, March 22 (IPR):
Mr Erung Tenzing Lepcha (Area MLA Rinchenpong Constituency) graced the event of District Level Closing Ceremony of 10th Anniversary of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” as the chief guest at community hall, Sangadorji organised by Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department.
During his address, Mr Lepcha emphasised the significance of implementing central schemes, highlighting that these initiatives are essential for the overall development of the state. He acknowledged the efforts of the state government in ensuring that welfare programmes reach the grassroots level, particularly those aimed at empowering women.
He pointed out that the government is actively focusing on women-centric schemes to enhance their socio-economic status and promote gender equality. Encouraging young girls to pursue higher education, he stressed that education is a crucial tool for breaking barriers and fostering self-reliance among women. He urged parents and guardians to support their daughters in achieving academic and professional success, as this would contribute to a more progressive society.
Furthermore, Mr Lepcha underscored the need for collective efforts from both men and women in driving development. He emphasised that gender inclusivity in every sector is essential for sustainable growth and prosperity.
Expressing deep concern over the rising cases of mental health issues, he stressed the urgency of addressing mental health awareness, particularly in both urban and rural areas.
During the programme, CDPO presented PPT on the key features of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), Promoting Equal Rights, Achievements of BBBP, Success Stories, Challenges Faced, Government Support and Initiatives and Role of Society.
The programme also saw the felicitation of female Supervisors from different Zones and Field Staff:
