EVMs and VVPATs Used for General Election 2024 in Pakyong District Shifted to Gangtok DAC
Pakyong, 5 September (IPR): The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) used during the General Election 2024 in Pakyong District were shifted from the strong rooms of Dikling Senior Secondary School and the Building and Housing Department to the District Administrative Centre (DAC) Gangtok today.
The shifting was conducted under the supervision of Mr Agawane Rohan Ramesh, DEO cum DC Pakyong, in the presence of Mr Sangay Gyasto Bhutia, ADC Pakyong, Mr Raghunath Chettri, Under Secretary, Election Department, representatives from various political parties, police personnel and staff from Election Department.
The strong rooms at Dikling Senior Secondary School, guarded by IRBn personnel, and the Building and Housing Department, guarded by SAP personnel with 24/7 CCTV surveillance, were unsealed at 10:20 am and 12:57 pm, respectively. The entire operation was securely escorted by the Sikkim Police.
Following the shifting process, the strong room at DAC Gangtok, was duly sealed at 8.25 pm with the entire procedure documented on video in accordance with the guidelines set by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
