Gangtok, 01 Sept (IPR): As per the direction of Election Commission of India with a view to correct and authenticate the demographic details and images for all electors in electric roll, Chief Election Officer, Shri R. Telang (IAS), officially launched the Electors Verification Programme (EVP) today.

Shri Telang elaborated the concept of EVP wherein the electors could themselves verify their details in the electoral roll online and indicate corrections in details, like photograph, details of family, address, correction of spellings, non standard EPIC number, etc.

The CEO further informed that the electors could verify their details through the following means:

1. “ Voters Helpline” Mobile App
2. NVSP portal : www. nvsp.in
3. By visiting Commom Service Centres where Internet services will be provided free of cost to the electors
4. By visiting Voters Facilitation Centre at BDO office or could call free Helpline number, 1950
5. The BLOs would be also be a part of this programme

He further appealed to all the electors of the State to come forward and to verify their details during the designated time of the programme.

Earlier, their was a brief presentation of the EVP/SSR 2091 given by Deputy Director, Mr. Zangpo Gyaltsen.

The Electrors Verification Programme(EVP) is w.e.f. 1st September-15th October 2019. The EVP is the largest Voters Verification Drive to achieve for a 100% Error Free Electoral Roll.

The programme also witnessed the launch of EVP poster and handling over of the jingle CD to Radio Misty and Red FM by the CEO.

Attending the event were Deputy CEO, BLOs officers and staffs of IT cell, Chief Election Office and members of Common Service Centre (CSC).
