Gangtok’s Got Talent Grand Finale

Gangtok, April 15 (IPR): The Governor of the State, Mr Om Prakash Mathur alongside the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang-Golay , graced the grand finale of the Gangtok’s Got Talent event at MG Marg, here today.
The event was organised by the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Gangtok, in collaboration with Stars Of Hope under the aegis of Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign. Gangtok's Got Talent is a vibrant talent competition that celebrates the creativity and artistic spirit of Sikkim. The initiative offered a platform for individuals of all ages to showcase their talents and contribute to a significant cultural moment as Sikkim commemorates 50 years of statehood.
The Governor Mr Om Prakash Mathur, in his address, extended his gratitude to the DAC Gangtok and Stars of Hope for successfully organising the event. He said that the initiative has provided an excellent platform for showcasing the multidimensional talent that exists in every corner of the Gangtok district.
He mentioned that Gangtok’s Got Talent is a commendable initiative aimed at promoting talent from diverse fields, be it dance, singing, tabla, guitar, poetry, or street theatre (Nukkad Natak). He also stated that it serves as a stepping stone for these young and passionate individuals to reach greater heights in their respective fields.
Additionally, he expressed that the State Government is committed to supporting artists through various schemes and grants, and events like these are vital in identifying and nurturing future stars.
Outlining the key national campaigns such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA), the Governor stated that the finalists are not just talented individuals, but also role models who can inspire others and contribute meaningfully to the holistic development of the society.
Concluding his address, he extended his congratulations and best wishes to all the finalists for their future endeavours.
The grand finale of Gangtok’s Got Talent showcased a wide range of exceptional performances, which were evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges, namely Director of Remanti Sangeet Academy Ms Remati Rai, Composer & Musician Mr Albert Gurung, and Director of Tapashree Dance Academy Ms Komal Gurung.
The event also featured the launch of a music video titled Sikkim Ramailo, adding to the excitement of the evening.
The winners of the Grand Finale of Gangtok’s Got Talent are as follows:
1st Place: Hema Marley – (Category, Dance)
2nd Place: Ananta Theatre – (Category, Theatre)
3rd Place: Sonam Waiba– (Category, Guitarist)
4th Place: Nehara Limbu - (Category, Poetry)
The winners were awarded a cash prize and a memento in recognition of their outstanding performances. The Chief Minister also announced a cash reward of ₹50,000 for each of the 19 finalists of Gangtok’s Got Talent.
The event also showcased captivating performances by guest artists, which garnered enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Earlier, District Collector Gangtok Mr Tushar Nikhare In his welcome address expressed the fulfillment of his long-held hope and aspiration of a platform where the people of Sikkim could showcase their talents and creativity, inspired by the immense talent he had observed on social media across the country. He proudly noted that this aspiration has now been fulfilled through this initiative.
He emphasised the importance of such platforms in supporting the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign, highlighting how constructive engagement opportunities help foster positive involvement among the youth. While the event might appear ordinary to some, he remarked that for the participants, it is a memorable moment, especially being held at the iconic MG Marg.
He also acknowledged the esteemed presence of the Governor and the Chief Minister which added grace and dignity to the occasion, elevating its significance. He commended the participants’ efforts and observed that under visionary leadership, this initiative contributes meaningfully to Sikkim’s rapid development.
Concluding, he expressed confidence that the talented finalists have the potential to shine as commendable artists in the national arena, marking a proud moment for Sikkim's cultural and creative landscape.
In a video message, Ms Arpana Acharya from Pakyong, who has reached the semi-finals of The Voice of Nepal, appealed to the citizens of the state for their support and votes.
The event had the presence of MLA cum Advisors, Mayor and Deputy Mayor (GMC), Councillors, HoDs and officers from various departments, dignitaries from Glenmark Plant, Torrent Pharma, NHPC, Sun Pharma along with officers and staff from DAC, Gangtok.
The Grand Finale of Gangtok's Got Talent concluded with words of thanks proposed by Additional District Collector Gangtok, Mr Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia.
