Governor Visits Donkyala Pass and Gurudongmar Lake
Mangan, September 23 (IPR): Governor Mr Om Prakash Mathur, visited Yumthang Valley at Lachung, today.
He was accompanied by DC Mangan, Mr Anant Jain (IAS), Additional Secretary Raj Bhawan Mr Khemraj Bhattrai, SDM Chungthang, DFO (T) Mangan, SHO Lachung, ACF Chunthang Mr Norden Zangpo Bhutia, Brigadier Uppal VSM, Commander, Colonel Mr AK Dixit SM Commander 758 BRTF and ITBP officials.
The Governor subsequently visited Donkyala Pass at an altitude of 18,200 feet, the second highest pass in India, where he observed the Indo-China Border and visited the Kerang ITBP base. His visit included discussions with security forces regarding operational readiness and welfare measures for personnel deployed in this sensitive area.
The Governor then proceeded to Gurudongmar Lake, located at an altitude of 17,800 feet. He performed a puja at the lake and sought blessings. Gurudongmar Lake holds religious and strategic significance and is known for its partially unfrozen waters throughout the year.
Following his visit to Gurudongmar Lake, the Governor continued to the Army Transit Camp in Thangu, where he engaged with officers and soldiers, addressing issues related to operational logistics and personnel welfare.
The visit concluded with interactions with army personnel at various strategic locations, reaffirming his focus on understanding and addressing the challenges faced by troops stationed in these remote areas.
