Holy Cross School, Tadong emerges as the winner of Quizzing You 2024 grand finale
Gangtok, July 26 (IPR): The final round of ‘Ouizzing You 2024’ themed “Environment and Us” was held at the Doordarshan Kendra, today.
Ms Smita Shilal DFO(T) Forest and Environment Department, Government of Sikkim graced the event as the chief guest. Also present were Mr Niraj Kumar Pandey, Deputy Director Engineering cum Head of Doordarshan Kendra, teachers of participating schools, invitees, officers and staff of Doordarshan Kendra.
Organised by Doordarshan Kendra, Gangtok the quiz competition commenced on July 22 attracting enthusiastic participation from 23 senior and secondary schools across Gangtok district. The format included six quarter-final rounds, followed by two semifinals, culminating in an exciting final round today.
The finale featured two student teams, representing Deorali Girls, Senior Secondary School, Holy Cross School, West Point Senior Secondary School and Raley Secondary School. The final quiz competition was conducted in four rounds, covering topics such as Environment and Us, Our Nation Our Pride, Nature and Us and India and the World.
The quizmaster for the event was Mr Diwakar Basnet, whose engaging and dynamic approach kept the audience and participants involved throughout the competition. The team from Holy Cross School, Tadong, Gangtok emerged as the winner, securing the first position with 60 points.
The winners Mr Bhavishya Kunwar and Mr Priyanshu, Holy Cross School were presented with a trophy and a certificate by Ms Smita Shilal, chief guest. Similarly, the 3rd runners-up-Deorali Girls Sr Secondary School, 2nd runners-up, Raley Secondary School and the 1st runners-up- West Point Sr Secondary School team were also awarded certificates and trophies.
Speaking on the occasion Ms Smita Shilal, DFO(T) in her address congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of such events in promoting a healthy environment. She said that the competition provided an excellent platform for students to showcase their knowledge and learn from each other. She urged the students to familiarize themselves with the various environmental programmes and policies of the government.
Mr Niraj Kumar Pandey, Deputy Director Engineering cum Head of Doordarshan Kendra, Gangtok, said that the quiz competition was a resounding success and he thanked the hard work of the organizers and the enthusiasm of the participants. He encouraged the students to build more competencies and to participate in every competition that comes their way.
The Quizzing You 2024 competition concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Ms Jikmit Lepcha, head of the programme, Doordarshan Kendra, (DDK) Gangtok. She extended gratitude to schools, and teachers for their support and contribution to making the event successful.
