Hon’ble Governor Shri Ganga Prasad attended Prerna Diwas at Motihari Bihar

Motihari Bihar, 12th November 2019: Hon’ble Governor of Sikkim Shri Ganga Prasad today attended PRERNA DIWAS at Motihari, Bihar as Chief Guest. It was the occasion of 71st Birth Anniversary Celebration of Lt. Sitaram Singh, former MP and Minister of Bihar, which is annually celebrated as PRERNA DIWAS. Many distinguished personalities including two cabinet ministers, Member of Parliament Smt. Rama Devi and Members of Bihar Legislative Assembly among others were present on the occasion.
The celebration also had a symposium on “Relevance of Gandhian Thoughts in Today’s Political Context” wherein many participants put forward their views.

Addressing the function, Hon’ble Governor remembered Lt Sitaram Singh’s contribution to the State of Bihar and how it was apt to celebrate his birth anniversary as Prerna Diwas.

Expressing his views on the topic of symposium, Hon’ble Governor highlighted various vices that has infiltrated in current political system in the country such as regionalism, caste-ism, religion, communal forces and criminals which has impacted the growth and development of the country after independence. He outlined that the political ideology as propagated by Gandhiji had high morals and values centered around the welfare of lowest strata of society. The objective of politics today has been different from what it should have been and has lost its credibility and trust of people to some extent which also gets reflected in society in the form of various vices. Hon’ble Governor further stated that the Gandhian talisman in politics is still relevant and required in today’s political system as it will help bring back the lost shine, credibility and the trust which is essential for the largest democracy in the world.
