Independence Day Celebrations in Mangan kick-off with MLA Challenge Cup 2024
Mangan, August 1 (IPR): The 78th Independence Day celebrations for Mangan began with the Lachen-Mangan MLA Challenge Cup 2024 at Mangan public ground, today. DC Mangan Mr. Anant Jain (IAS) graced the occasion as the chief guest.
The grand celebration of Independence Day is organised by the District Administrative Centre Mangan while the football tournament is organised by North District Football Association(NDFA) under the flagship of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
The inaugural ceremony was also attended by Dr. Dichen O Kaleon Additional Director of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services Mangan, Mrs Janim Lepcha, Joint Director Sports & Youth Affairs Department, Mr. Karma Dorjee Wazarlingpa DPO LR&DM Mangan, students from Government Senior Secondary School Mangan and the public.
A total of 26 teams are participating in the MLA Challenge Cup 2024. The opening match was played between Mangan Senior Secondary School and Lingdong Boys School where MSSS emerged victorious with a score of 4-1.
It is to be mentioned that this year’s Independence Day is being celebrated in Mangan public ground after 5 years the ground had been closed to the public for infrastructural renovation.
