Independence Day Prep Meeting at Mangan

Date: 26-Jul-2024
Mangan, July 26 (IPR): A preparatory meeting for the upcoming District level Independence Day 2024 was convened at the election hall of District Administrative Centre Mangan, today.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Anant Jain (IAS) DC Mangan. Also present were Mr Sonam Detchu Bhutia SP Mangan, Mr Vishu Lama ADC Mangan, Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa SDM Mangan and heads of offices from the district.
The meeting was held to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the departments in order to organise the Independence Day successfully. Every department was given responsibility for venue decoration, seating arrangements, cleanliness, media & PA systems, water provision, uninterrupted power supply, traffic and safety management etc. It may be mentioned that this year, the celebrations are to be held in a grand manner as the public ground has been under renovation for the last five years and Independence Day in the district headquarters has been celebrated in smaller venues with less participation. This year, with the works completed at the ground, the venue is ready for Independence Day celebrations.
DC urged all the departments to take their roles and responsibilities seriously and to work in coordination so as to bring out fruitful results. He also asked the HoDs to nominate employees from each department to be felicitated at the district level on Independence Day for their achievements and outstanding performance. He asked that the citation for the nominated employee be prepared and submitted by August 10.
Mrs Janim Lepcha, Joint Director of Sports & Youth Affairs said that the football matches would draw in big crowds and asked departments like Roads, Power, PHE, MNP and others to assist them with necessary logistics and other amenities required.
The 5 km run being organised by DAC in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department under Nasha Mukth Bharat Abhiyan was also discussed. DC asked that all should assemble at MNP at 7 am on the day of the run, i.e. August 3. He asked the CMO to ensure that an ambulance was on standby. The required manpower and logistics were discussed in detail and responsibilities were assigned to various departments. DC also asked the CEO of Education to inform and encourage the participation of students in the marathon for the ‘Under 15 category.’ He directed to ensure that uniformity is maintained with the other districts in conducting the run.
SDM Mangan proposed the vote of thanks and said that he hoped that everyone would put in their sincere efforts and work together in celebrating the 77th Independence Day in Mangan.
