Soreng, January 5 (IPR): The joint inspection for the upcoming Maghey Mela 2026 was conducted today at Nayabazar, led by MLA (Salghari–Zoom) Mr Madan Cintury, to review preparedness and ensure smooth, safe, and culturally vibrant conduct of the festival.
During the inspection, in-depth discussions were held on the overall planning and coordination required for the Maghey Mela. Special emphasis was laid on the ‘Maghey Falar Bazar’, a traditional and organic fruit market near the Forest Check Post, Nayabazar, where arrangements for proper stall layout, crowd movement, hygiene standards, and promotion of local farmers and indigenous produce were discussed. Officials deliberated on ensuring quality control, waste management, and eco-friendly practices at the market.
The team also reviewed preparations at the Sandhya Aarati site, focusing on safety arrangements, lighting, barricading, crowd control, and maintaining the sanctity of the ritual. Decorative elements, particularly traditional stall gates and cultural motifs, were discussed to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the mela while reflecting local heritage and traditions.
Extensive discussions were held on traffic and parking management, including the identification of designated parking zones, the deployment of volunteers, and coordination with the police to prevent congestion. Cleanliness and sanitation measures formed a key agenda, with emphasis on the placement of sufficient dustbins, mobile toilets, regular cleaning schedules, and coordination with line departments to maintain a clean and hygienic environment throughout the event.
The positioning of stalls for the District Child Protection Unit and Disaster Management Volunteers was reviewed to ensure visibility and accessibility. The importance of a well-equipped first-aid desk, the availability of medical personnel, ambulances, and emergency response mechanisms was also discussed in detail. Officials further deliberated on overall security arrangements to ensure public safety.
