MLA Gyalshing-Bermiok Joins Avenue Plantation Drive under the banner "Ek Ped Maa KE Naam" at Hee-Martam Block
Gyalshing, July 25 (IPR):Mr. Lok Nath Sharma MLA Gyalshing-Bermiok Constituency-cum- Advisor Public Health Engineering and Water Resources Development Department attended a plantation drive organised by the Forest and Environment Department, Gyalshing Division at Berfok under Hee-Martam Block, today.
The event was the part of "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" initiative, recently announced by the Prime Minister of India.
The programme, initiated under the visionary leadership of the Chief Minister of Sikkim Mr. Prem Singh Tamang, aimed at protection and preservation of the environment, promotion of Green Sikkim, and boost eco-tourism. Sikkim is implementing the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" drive on a large scale in the state with the vision of encouragement to plant trees for the benefit of future generations.
During the event, Mr. Sharma emphasised the importance of tree plantation and encouraged the people of Sikkim to participate in this noble cause. He asserted on the need of effective collaboration of the populous with the state government for greener and more sustainable future of the state.
The plantation drive was attended by Mr. YK Mishra Chairman Sikkim Milk Union,Mr GR Chettri Chairman NHPC, Mr. Kshitij Saxena DFO(T), Mr. Arun Gurung DFO Social Forestry, Mr. Kailash Gurung BDO Martam,Mr. Milan Limboo ACF, Mr. Palchen Bhutia RO Gyalshing and Mr. Tara Hang Limboo BO Social Forestry.
