Mangan Celebrates 210th Bhanu Jayanti

Mangan, July 13 (IPR): The 210th Bhanu Jayanti was celebrated with grandeur and enthusiasm at DAC Hall Pentok, today. The event saw a mixture of cultural pride and literary homage.
The celebration saw the attendance of UP Adhakshya Ms Sonam Keepa Bhutia, DC Mangan Mr Anant Jain (IAS), SP Mangan Mr Sonam Ditchu Bhutia, ADC Mangan Mr Vishu Lama, SDM Mangan Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa, SDM Dzongu Mr Arun Chettri, BDO Mangan Mr Kailash Thapa, CEO Education Mr David G Lingdong, along with councillors, panchayat members, HoOs, staff of various departments, and students and teachers from different schools in the district.
The programme commenced with the lighting of ceremonial lamps and garlanding of the portrait of ‘Adhi Kavi’ Shri Bhanu Bhakta Acharya.
Emphasising the historical significance of Bhanu Jayanti, DC highlighted the invaluable contributions of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya to Nepali literature. The event also included the honouring of three judges: Mr Ganesh Thapa (WO), Mr Pema Wangchen Namkarpa (SDM HQ), and Mr Arun Chettri (SDM Dzongu), with traditional caps and shawls.
Chief Guest Ms Sonam Keepa Bhutia shared her insights on the importance of the event, praising the organisers and participants for their efforts. She stressed the need to preserve one’s cultural heritage and urged everyone to uphold their traditions as it helps in maintaining their identity in the future. She added grand celebration of Bhanu Jayanti not only honoured the legacy of Bhanu Bhakta Acharya but also served as a reminder of the importance of preserving and celebrating cultural heritage.
The celebration featured competitive events for students, such as the Kavita Path and Ramayan Path. The results are as follows:
Kavita Path:
1st Place: Ms. Bhumika Chettri, Mangan Sr. Sec School
2nd Place: Ms. Basra Rai, Mangan Girls Sr. Sec School
3rd Place: Mr. Anmol Sanyari, Ringhim Secondary School
Ramayan Path:
1st Place: Mangan Sr. Sec School
2nd Place: North Sikkim Academy School
3rd Place: Mangan Girls Sr. Sec School
The winners were awarded certificates and prize money. Additionally, Mr Dinesh Sapkota, a Sanskrit teacher from Mangan Girls Sr. Sec School, received a token of appreciation and a khada from the chief guest for his contributions to the event.
The programme also featured ethnic dance performances by students from various schools, adding a vibrant cultural touch to the celebration.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by ADC Mr Vishu Lama, expressing gratitude to all participants and attendees for making the 210th Bhanu Jayanti a memorable occasion.
