Medhavi Skills University launches foundation programme PRARAMBH 2024
Gangtok, August 22 (IPR): The inaugural ceremony of ‘PRARAMBH 2024,’ the Foundation Programme for the batch of 2024 of Medhavi Skills University, was held at the Manan Kendra today.
Chief Justice of Sikkim Mr Justice Biswanath Somadder, graced the event as the Chief Guest, and Mr Tushar G Nikhare, District Collector, Gangtok attended as the Guest of Honour.
In his address, the Chief Justice emphasised the significance of skill development and its role in empowering the youth of the region. He encouraged students to engage in sports and physical education alongside their academic studies.
Quoting Swami Vivekananda, he said, “My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation; out of them will come my workers. They will solve all problems, like lions.”
He added that the life and ideals of Swami Vivekananda serve as a great source of inspiration for younger generation
The Chief Justice emphasised that the pursuit of education should not be solely for career advancement or financial gain, but should also foster the aspiration to become better human beings. He further stressed that every individual should contribute to the nation’s economy, helping it grow into one of the largest in the world.
He remarked that life is not always about name and fame, but about being productive for the benefit of future generations. In conclusion, he wished everyone the very best of luck as they embarked on their new journey at the university.
Mr Tushar G Nikhare, District Collector, in his address, thanked the organisers for the invitation. He encouraged the students to take full advantage of the opportunities provided, reminding them that both academic qualifications and soft skills are essential in today’s world.
The District Collector urged them to focus on improving skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership, as these would play a key role in their professional growth. He also advised the students to step beyond their comfort zone, explore new areas, and bring out their best efforts.
Concluding his speech, the District Collector extended his best wishes to the students, encouraging them to approach their future with confidence and dedication.
Mr Pravesh Dudani, Founder and Chancellor of Medhavi Skills University, delivered the welcome address emphasising the importance of skill development and educational excellence.
The Chancellor highlighted the importance of the Foundation Programme in equipping students with the necessary skills for their academic and professional careers.
Mr Kuldip Sarma, Pro Chancellor and Co-Founder of Medhavi Skills University, in his address, expressed his gratitude to all those who attended the event. He advised students to prioritise the development of essential skills and personal qualities that are crucial for their future achievements.

Earlier, the ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by a rendition of the National Anthem and the Sikkim State Song by ‘Skill Drill’ (Music) students from Medhavi Skill University.
Video screenings were presented, showcasing MSU's journey, infrastructure, and how the university prepares students to be industry-ready. Additionally, video presentations highlighted MSU's achievements, including the unveiling of the "MSU's Best Practice Report."
Ms Krishna Kumari Mukhia (Sunwar) and Ms Radhika Chettri were felicitated with the Chancellor’s Scholarship for Higher Education for their achievements in winning the India Skills Competition 2024 (Health and Social Care category).
Following this, students shared their experiences from on-the-job learning (OJL), including participation in the prestigious World Skills Competition 2024.
Also present during the programme were Ms CR Namchu, Registrar of the Sikkim Nursing Council, principals from government schools, teaching faculty, other dignitaries, staff, students of Medhavi Skills University.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr Siddhartha Shankar, Deputy Registrar, Medhavi Skills University.
