NCORD and NMBA: Pakyong District intensifies Anti-Drug initiatives

Pakyong, 5 September (IPR): The monthly Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (NMBA) meeting was held today at the District Administrative Centre (DAC) in Pakyong. The meeting was chaired by Mr Agawane Rohan Ramesh, IAS, DC Pakyong.
DC Pakyong, followed up with concerned departments to assess the actions taken regarding previous directives. He emphasised the need for continued efforts in addressing the sale of tobacco and alcohol near educational institutions, the destruction of cannabis crops, and ensuring thorough vehicle checks.
He reiterated the importance of organising diverse activities within schools to foster an environment of learning and well-being. He urged the concerned departments to work collaboratively in implementing these programs effectively.
During the meeting, the committee revisited the agenda from the previous meeting, discussing the progress made on critical issues, including drug abuse prevention and control measures. In addition to the ongoing agenda, the committee explored innovative measures and activities to engage students in schools.
The discussions centred on introducing sports activities and meditation programmes to promote a healthy lifestyle and keep students actively involved. These initiatives are aimed at preventing the youth from falling into substance abuse by keeping them engaged in constructive activities.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to address the challenges identified, and it was agreed that the next meeting would continue to build on the progress made thus far.
