Namchi District Conducts NARCO Coordination Meeting at DAC
Namchi, December 19 (IPR): Ms Anupa Tamling DC Namchi chaired a monthly NARCO Coordination meeting at District Administrative Centre, today.
The meeting was attended by Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia SDM (HQ), Dr S N Adhikari CMO Namchi, Mr Gopal Sharma Joint Director Education Department, Ms Peggyla Tshering Venchungpa DFO Forest Department along with other HoOs from various line departments.
During the meeting, the DC enquired updates on the various initiatives implemented to control substance abuse in the district and reviewed data on various cases registered in the past months under SADA Act.
Further, she directed concerned departments to intensify patrols in sensitive areas across the district and stressed on the importance of public awareness to educate the community about the dangers of substance abuse.
Additionally, she advised the Agriculture Department to implement measures to control cannabis cultivation and instructed the Excise Department to monitor the illegal sale of alcohol throughout the district.
She further assigned various roles and responsibilities to the line departments and requested them to work in coordination to eliminate substance abuse from the district as it has become the root cause of many issues.
It is to be informed that this meeting marked the district’s proactive efforts to combat substance abuse with a comprehensive approach involving law enforcement and generating awareness.
