Press Release from District Legal Services Authority East
Gangtok, October 10: The District Legal Services Authority(DLSA) East Sikkim organized a Cyclothon from Bojoghari Zero Point to District Court Complex, Sichey, today. It was followed by a Walkathon on mental health awareness at M.G.Marg, Gangtok in observance of the World Mental Health Day-2021 and also as a part of the ongoing Pan India Awareness and Outreach campaign of NALSA and Sikkim SLSA.
The cyclothon was flagged off by special guest Dr.(Mrs.) Yudok Bhutia and was held in collaboration with the Bar Association of Sikkim(High Court and Subordinate Courts) and is a part of the various activities of DLSA, East in observance of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
The participants of cyclothon also included President(BAS) Jorgay Namka and law students from Sikkim Government Law College, Burtuk. It also follows a series of activities of the DLSA(E), such as door-to-door campaign on legal rights, online webinars, legal awareness camps etc.
In the cyclothon, the winner was Law Student Mr. Dipendra Chettri (4th year) while, the runners up were Advocate Abhinav Kant Jha and Dipesh Sharma. The prizes were distributed by Chairman, DLSA Prajwal Khatiwada and Secretary, DLSA Ms. Zamyang Choden Bhutia. The DLSA would also be organizing similar activities and awareness programmes in the coming days.
Earlier, a table tennis tournament was also conducted by DLSA(E) on 06.10.2021 as a part of the above campaign at ADR hall, Sichey Court. The winner in the table tennis tournament was Special Public Prosecutor(Vigilance) Mr. William Tamang and the runner up was Advocate Mr. Tsewang Namgyal
