Reserved EVMs and VVPATs under Gangtok district segregated

Gangtok, April 24 (IPR): Warehouse housing reserved EVMs and VVPATs were unsealed in the presence of representatives of various political parties by the Officials of District Election Office Gangtok, here at District Administration Centre Gangtok today.
Present during the unsealing and tallying process of the reserved EVMs and rejected EVMs were Mr Rohan Agawane Addtl District Collector Gangtok, Mr Milan Rai Addtl District Collector (HQ) Gangtok, Mr Karma Wangyal Bhutia Deputy Director Election Department (Gangtok), Ms Dhanmaya Rasaily Under Secretary Election Department (Gangtok) and Officials of District Election Office.
The unsealed EVMs and VVPATs were further segregated into the category of Reserved EVMs and Rejected (damaged) EVMs. It is to be mentioned that the reserved EVMs were not used during the General Elections 2024 under the Gangtok district. The rejected EVMs are those machines which malfunctioned during the First Level Checking and Commissioning process.
Further, the machines will be tallied and the final report of each reserved and rejected (damaged) EVM will be sent to various political parties to ensure that the sanctity of the electoral process is maintained throughout the election process.
After the tallying process, the machines were sealed in the presence of representatives of various political parties.
