Sichey Mavericks triumph on day five of the 23rd Chief Minister's Compound Archery Gold Cup
Pakyong, April 14 (IPR):
On the fifth day of the ongoing 23rd Chief Minister's Compound Archery Gold Cup, teams Sichey Mavericks and Jojo 7 competed against each other, with the event being held at Karthok Archery Field, Pakyong.
The day's event was graced by former MLA Mr Em Prasad Sharma alongside former OSD (Agriculture) Mr PL Subba. During the event, a felicitation was accorded to the first female archer in the traditional format, a state champion and national-level participant, Ms Rashmi Tamang.
In the match held today, Sichey Mavericks secured a win with a score of 48-24.
Kite flying and darts competitions are being conducted alongside the tournament by the organising committee to revive local games among the younger generation.
The guests for the day participated in kite flying and darts, with traditional cultural performances presented by teams from Pachey Samsing GPU and Parakha GPU.They also toured the venue, viewed the stalls and displays, and interacted with participants.
The event is being organised under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Sikkim Abhiyan, commemorating the 50th year of Sikkim’s statehood. It is being conducted by the Pakyong District Archery Association in coordination with the District Administration Centre, Pakyong.
Attendees included Zilla Adhakshya of Pakyong District, Mrs Laden Lhamu Bhutia; panchayat members; members from Pakyong District Archery Association; and the general public.
