Soreng Hosts Successful Conclusion of the 1st Open Badminton Tournament 2025
Soreng, April 15, 2025: The 1st Open Badminton Tournament 2025 concluded today with an exhilarating finale at the Jautar Indoor Stadium, Soreng. The tournament witnessed intense competition and exceptional performances from participants, captivating the audience and leaving a lasting impression.
Mr Mingma N Sherpa, Speaker of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly-cum-MLA Daramdin constituency, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. In his address, he congratulated Mr. Aditya Golay, area MLA and Chief Patron of the Badminton Association of Soreng, along with the association team for the successful organization of the event. He extended his felicitations to the winners and motivated the runners-up to participate in future editions. Recognizing the state's sporting achievements, Mr. Sherpa applauded the vision of the Chief Minister, whose initiatives have significantly bolstered sports in Sikkim. He also expressed appreciation for Mr. Jacob Khaling's contribution, acknowledging his leadership in fostering badminton's growth in the region.
The event was further graced by the presence of Mr. Jacob Khaling, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister and President of the Badminton Association of Sikkim, as the Special Guest. Accompanying him were Mr. Aditya Golay (Area MLA) and Mr. DS Kunar (Former Vice President of the Badminton Association).
The chief guest and dignitaries presented trophies, certificates, and cash prizes to the winners across various categories, marking the culmination of the tournament. The program concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Dinesh Pega, Chief Advisor of the Badminton Association of Soreng.
