The 82nd State Level Banker's Committee Meeting for December 2024 Quarter Concludes Successfully

Mr Ravindra S Telang, Chief Secretary Government of Sikkim attended the 82nd State Level Banker's Committee (SLBC) Meeting for December 2024 Quarter here at a local hotel in Deorali today.
The Meeting had the presence of Secretaries from various line departments, Senior Officers and Officers of various line departments, Mr Goda Ravi Shanker General Manager Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Mr Ajay Kumar Sinha General Manager (GM) -cum-OiC NABARD, Mr NK Singh GM State Bank of India (SBI)-cum-Convenor SLBC, Mr Gadadhar Ray Coordinator SLBC Sikkim, and officials of RBI, SBI, NABARD and various banks around the State.
Mr Ravindra S Telang, in his keynote address, thanked the organisers for the invitation to the 82nd SLBC Meeting. The Chief Secretary applauded the performance of banks belonging to public sector and Self Help Groups (SHGs) doing well in achieving their targets. He briefed about the performance of various banks and directed the banks who fell below par to achieve their target by conducting aggressive campaign in the last quarter to achieve their designated targets. Further, he directed the banks to focus on sectors where collective effort is needed. The Chief Secretary concluded his keynote address by hoping that the meeting which was conducted today will bear fruits leading to improved performance of banks in the State.
During a powerpoint presentation session by Mr Gadadhar Ray, Coordinator SLBC Sikkim, he presented various agenda-wise review of banks in Sikkim pertaining to quarter ended on 31.12.2024 which were discussed in detail during the interactive session between the SLBC and the stake holders. The agendas discussed are as follows:
1. Review of performance under Annual Credit Plan 2024-25 including NPS.
2. Review of Priority Sector Advances Performance under Annual Credit Plan 2024-25 for the quarter.
3. Agriculture and Allied Activities.
4. Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Animal Husbandry and KCC Fisheries.
5. MSME Sector.
6. Review of Government Sponsored Schemes as of 31.12.2024.
7. Status of PM Vishwakarma Scheme, PMFME. Scheme, PM Svanidhi Scheme, PM Mudra Yojana.
8. Promotion of Self Help Groups.
9. Housing Finance.
10. Education Loan.
11. Enrolment Status of Social Security Schemes (PMJJBY, PMSBY, PMJDY).
12. Financial Literacy Centres in Sikkim.
Mr Goda Ravi Shanker GM RBI stressed on improving the banking parameters to make it easy for everyone to access banking facilities. He emphasised on banks playing a big role on development of a State. He pointed out the huge potential for development due to rise of Sikkimese economy in the near future. Speaking on this context, he said that banks play a big role in the economy, but it must include people from all walks of life through financial inclusion.
Mr Ajay Kumar Sinha, GM NAABARD gave a brief about district wise data about achievements of banks in the State. He stated the importance of focusing on vulnerable groups highlighting technical support provided to MSME and SHGs through Skill Building capacity. He also spoke at length about granting exposure tours to FPOs and SHGs outside the State for better understanding of market. He concluded his address by stating the importance of banks to provide timely support for the welfare of the masses.
