Wildlife Week Celebration Concludes with Co-existence Theme

Gangtok, October 8 (IPR):
The Wildlife Week celebration, held from October 2-8, 2024 organised by Forest and Environment Department concluded at Tragopan Meeting Hall, Forest Secretariat, today.
The week-long celebration is an annual event, observed from October 2-8, with the theme "Wildlife Conservation through Co-existence."
The programme had the presence of Dr D Manjunatha, CCF, Wildlife, Mr Udai Gurung, CF, Wildlife, Divisional Heads of various Divisions, ACFs of Sanctuary, ROs, members of Global Tiger Forum, World Wildlife Fund and other dignitaries.
In his address, Dr D Manjunatha congratulated the entire team from various districts for their efforts in making the Wildlife Week a success. He encouraged everyone to explore the state's natural assets and promote responsible eco-tourism. He also urged to discover Sikkim's untouched beauty, explore its trekking trails, and boost adventure tourism. Additionally, he emphasised the need to showcase the state's wildlife and promote its cultural heritage through wildlife conservation.
In her welcome address, Ms Bhumika Rai, DFO, KNP (West), welcomed the attendees on the concluding day of Wildlife Week. She highlighted the activities conducted across districts and expressed hope that the lessons learned this year would help in planning the future events.
The programme included a presentation of brief report on the activities conducted during the week-long Wildlife Week celebration by various divisions, such as Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary, KNP (North), KNP (West), Fambonglho Wildlife Sanctuary, Pangolakha Wildlife Sanctuary, Kyongnosla Alpine Sanctuary, Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, Kitam Bird Sanctuary, and Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr Udai Gurung, CF, Wildlife.
