The ten member team of IHCAE Expedition to climb Mt. Kangyatse-I and Mt. Kangyatse-II in Ladakh Himalaya headed by Sh. Rajiv Rai and Ms. Shanti Rai as the technical leader, which was flagged off by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri PS Tamang on 10th July 2024 are back to Leh on 24th of July 2024. They had completed this mission within a week by summiting both the peaks successfully. The team started their trek from Markha village in Leh on the 17th and reached Base Camp on the 18th of July 2024. After reaching the Base Camp they changed the initial plan to attempt KY-II first and later KY-I. After looking at the ground realities (technicality/ weather and many things) of both the peaks. The team decided to switch/alter the plan and made an attempt to KY-I at first. The team occupied ABC on 20th July and attempted the peak at night at 10:30 pm and reached the summit of Kangyatse-I (6400M) at 5 am on 21st July after facing so many difficulties on its route.
The team came back to the Base Camp on the same day. Without taking proper rest the team again made an attempt to climb KY-II on the 22nd at midnight at 11 pm from its Base Camp itself and successfully climbed Mt. Kangyatse-II(6240M) at 5:55 am on 23rd of July.
This was the first State Government funded expedition of the Institute.
