Hon’ble Minister, Tourism & Civil Aviation Department,Shri. Tshering Thendup Bhutia accompanied by Pr. Secretary C.S Rao (IFS) Additional Director ( Hospitality) Shri N.T Bhutia, Deputy Director- Shri Prashant Pakhrin and Media Consultant Laxmi Prasad Sharma attended the North -Eastern and Eastern Tourism Ministers Conference held in Shillong on 2nd September 2024. The meeting was chaired by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Tourism and Culture, Shri. Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in presence of Shri Suresh Gopi - Minister of State for Tourism & Petroleum Gas. Tourism Ministers from North - Eastern and Eastern States along with Senior Officers from Ministry of Tourism, State Governments/ UT participated in the conference designed to share insights and strategies on how to improve tourism was discussed alongside future plans for enhancement.
The Hon’ble Tourism Minister, Government of Sikkim in his speech highlighted the various measures adopted for development of tourism sector in the State. He shared that under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Sikkim , Shri Prem Singh Tamang(Golay) the State Government is committed to develop Sikkim into a premier year-round destination, ensuring that the benefits of tourism are distributed equitably across the society, fostering social and economic development, and empowering local communities.
Pr. Secretary, Tourism & CAv, Shri CS Rao (IFS) made a detailed presentation on the proposed iconic tourist centres of the state, alternate destinations,marketing & promotion, EODB,
Investment opportunities, Cleanliness and Tourist Safety etc.
Hon’ble Cabinet and State Minister appreciated the initiatives and vision of the state Government and ensured required support in development of alternative destinations in the state of Sikkim.
The conference ended with the cultural program organised by Meghalaya Govt and dinner hosted by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya.
